Guidelines for Professional Development Days
Teacher Choice
Guidelines
The following topics, which align to our mission and strategic plan, will be approved.
Directions for submitting completion of hours:
- Complete 16 hours of professional development and/or curriculum work - teacher’s choice approved by Director of Curriculum or Director of Pupil Services/Special Education
- If you choose to use your time for curriculum work, please seek approval from Heidi Stricker prior to doing the work by completing this form.
- If you would like to attend a workshop/conference that is not on the pre-approved list, please submit this form to Heidi Stricker prior to attending.
- Hours need to be completed between July 1, 2018, and June 14, 2019, with the exception of pre-approved activities in June 2018.
- Hours need to be outside of your regularly contracted time (i.e. non-school days, non-inservice days, hours outside of 7:30-3:30/8-4)
- If hours are not completed, that time will be deducted on a June 2019 payroll.

- Exploration and Implementation of new Science and Social Studies standards
- Error Analysis of Student Work (learning how to analyze student work to determine plans for extra practice, intervention, and/or enrichment)
- Technology Implementation
- Social Emotional Learning
- SEL Competencies - Integrating into curriculum plans
- Responsive Classroom and Developmental Designs
- Mindfulness
- Trauma Informed Care (Trauma Sensitive Schools)
- Collaborative Proactive Solutions (CPS); Dr. Ross Greene
- Restorative Practices
- Developing Resilience in Students
- Implicit/Unconscious Bias
- Academic & Career Planning

- Developing Community Partnerships
- Making Student Thinking Visible

Directions for submitting completion of hours:
- Meet with your principal to discuss your professional development - record date and time of meeting on the form (This can be a quick meeting - 5-10 minutes.)
- Complete the 2018-2019 Professional Development Day - Teacher Choice Google Form once you have completed all of your hours. (If you participate in different activities for your 16 hours, the form allows you to share multiple activities.)
- The description of the professional development should include the following:
- Description of activity
- Where the activity took place
- A list of other (if applicable) involved in the activity
- One new thing you learned
- Submit any certificates of completion/attendance to Heidi Stricker.
